CHANUKAH IS A TIME FOR REFLECTIONS NOT FOR GIVING GIFTS

Contrary to the tradition of giving gifts and celebrations,during the 8 dyas of Chanukah. The Questiion a real Jew should be asking are: Why is it that ONLY one Jew, a Kohen and his five sons stood up against the world powers for H-SHEM; Torah, In the face of prosecution why?. And where were the rabbis? The congregations? The synaguoges? The Torah scholars? The communities?... where were they????? Where were the tens of millions who call themselves Jews? Can a soldier be war veteran without ever going to war????

Let us all be awaken from our drunkenness into TRUE repentance.....Tamim tihyeh Im Adonay Eloheycha Devarim 18 vs. 13. H-SHEM returns is nearer than our next breath. Now Historia.
In 167 BCE the Syrian-Greek emperor, Antiochus, set out to destroy Judaism by imposing a ban on three mitzvot: The Shabbat, The Sanctifying of the New Month (establishing the first day of the month by testimony of witnesses who saw the new moon) and Brit Mila (entering the Covenant of Abraham through Torah-ordained circumcision). The Shabbat signifies that God is the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe and that His Torah is the blueprint of creation, meaning and values.

Sanctifying the New Month determines the day of the Jewish holidays. Without it there would be chaos. For example, if Succot is the 15th of Tishrei, the day it occurs depends upon which day is declared the first of Tishrei. Brit Mila is a sign of our special covenant with the Almighty. All three maintain our cultural integrity and were thus threats to the Greek culture.

The true Jew
Matityahu and his 5 sons, known as the Maccabees, started a revolt and three years later succeeded in evicting the oppressors. The victory was a miracle - on the scale of Israel defeating the combined super-powers of today. Having regained control of the Temple in Jerusalem, they wanted to immediately rededicate it. They needed ritually pure olive oil to re-light the Menorah in the Temple. Only a single cruse of oil was found; enough to burn for just one day. However, they needed oil for eight days until new ritually pure olive oil could be produced. A miracle occurred and the oil burned for eight days.

Let us use this opportunity instead of celebrations and buying/giving gifts let us do a true shuvah(repentance) and just may be H-shem will save us in His Great Mercies from ourselves.

Encendiendo la Menorá

1. Acomode las velas en la Menorá. Asegúrese de que haya bastante aceite, o de que las velas sean lo bastante grandes, como para que iluminen hasta media hora después del anochecer (o, si se enciende después de anochecer, media hora).

2. La primera noche, fije una vela en el extremo derecho de la Menorá. A la noche siguiente agregue una segunda vela a la izquierda de la primera, y después agregue una vela cada noche de Janucá avanzando de izquierda a derecha.

3. Reúna a toda la familia alrededor de la Menorá.

3. Encienda el shamash, la vela piloto; sosténgalo con la mano derecha (a menos que sea zurdo, en ese caso lo sostiene con la izquierda).

4. De pie, recite las bendiciones apropiadas.

5. Encienda las velas. Cada noche, encienda la vela nueva (en el extremo izquierdo) primero y continúe encendiendo de izquierda a derecha. (Agregamos velas a la Menorá de derecha a izquierda, y encendemos de izquierda a derecha.)

CAN A JEW BE NON-OBSERVANT OF THE TORAH?

2.OBEY ALL HASHEM´S 613 MITZVOT...There are some few exceptions..specific requirement for Kohen.

1. A convert and

2. Obey all Hashem,s commandments.

Remember Hashem personnaly charged Joshua after the death of Moshe to adhere strickly to all that Moshe our teacher (peace be upon him)wrote and do not turn aside form them.
